Where Can I Serve?

Jesus told us, his disciples, “let the greatest among you become as the youngest, and the leader as one who serves” (Luke 22:26). One of the most important values of Christian Heritage is our mission to serve others. It begins in our own community, and spreads overseas to every nation. Church members are involved in a variety of ministries, from cleaning the church facilities, to preparing the church announcements. Here are some of the areas where you can serve!

The heart of Harvest Storm is seeing God impact today’s youth with His awesome love. It includes: an eponymous two-day summer youth rally; a network of youth connected in prayer (Harvest Storm: Worldwide Prayer); a winter youth retreat (Harvest Storm: Winter); and our youth group (ReIdentified). Contact Minister Stephen Johnson to get involved!

One of the greatest opportunities we have to connect with God is through worship. Lifting praise and adoration to our Lord is an integral part of Christian Heritage. There are plenty of ways to serve; both our band and our praise team are comprised entirely of CHTC members! See Minister Jerard Woods for how you can get involved!

Based in Chicago, the Harvest Force Spiritual S.E.A.L.S. are a team of prayer warriors called to reach souls for the kingdom of God. During the midnight hour, when the enemy rages under the cover of darkness, we go into the community and war with the very demonic forces holding both individual souls and geographic territories. Our goal is for the lost to come into the kingdom of God, living prosperous lives to the glory of God. We meet second and fourth Fridays from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. from April to September. We’d love to see you there!

Noah’s Ark is a community dollar-plus store based out of Christian Heritage Training Center. It serves the community by offering items at prices heavily discounted from retail value and providing essentials for those who live in the Greater Grand Crossing area. Church members and residents of the neighborhood alike stock up on their groceries at our store. Noah’s Ark is currently closed due to construction on the building; however, it will be back soon! If you would like more information on how to get involved, please contact Sister Linda.

Finance: According To Your Faith’s (FATYF) mission is to reach out to God’s people to teach them step-by-step how to manage their financial matters and empower them to build wealth. Why? Because so many of God’s people are hurting as a result of financial mismanagement and ignorance concerning debt, credit and savings while others are successful but are keenly aware that they are called to do more with the financial resources God has placed in their care. FATYF is a Christian financial education ministry. Seminars, workshops and classes use Biblical principles to teach people how to effectively manage their financial lives so that they increase the resources that God has given them. Our FATYF class currently meets Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. at 806 E 64th Street. Make sure to contact Minister Deena for more information!

The Community Academic Para School (CAPS) was established in 1988 as an after-school enrichment program, addressing the educational needs of at-risk youth grades 3-12 in Chicago’s Greater Grand Crossing Community.

In the summer of 2014, the CAPS program shifted focus and launched the Center for Wealth Education and Management (CWEM), to begin aggressively tackling the challenges facing at-risk youth regarding financial literacy.

Financial literacy is often only taught at a few schools or extracurricular programs that many of our youth cannot access. CWEM’s goal is to transform the mindsets of youth, their families, and their communities for lasting economic leadership.
